Tutorial 1     How do I make an event file with CGillust?

You can use either the downloaded trail version of the software or the full product version to create an event file.

1. Start your CGillust and choose “New” from the “File” menu on the top. This will display a “New” dialog box. Click OK to open the new workspace. This dialog box allows you to set the size of your drawing.  (see figure-1)

2. Make a simple drawing in the workspace. When you finish the drawing, choose “Save” from the “Event” menu on the top. (see figure-2) Put any name you like (i.e. “Noname1”) in the pop-up window and click “Save.” CGillust will add the extension ‘.oes’ to the file name.

3. Close this file. If you are using the trial version, when you click “Yes” the window closes but nothing is saved, so click “No” to get rid of this box. (See figure-3) If you are using the full version you can save your work as a regular .oci file.

4. Let’s see how your event file works! Choose “Open” from the “Event” menu and a window shows the file that you open. Choose your event file, “Noname 1”, and click “Open”. Your event file will show you every single stroke that you made on the workspace.

For users of the trial version :  You  cannot continue to work on the drawing. Changes can be made but they will not be saved. The Save or Save As function will not operate in the trail version of CGillust.  If you can complete your drawing in one work period, you can save it as an event file and then upload your work to our website and enter it into any contests we will have. Good luck!

Since you know how to see the Event file, you might be curious to know how other artists draw illustrations. The full product version has 50 wonderful event files done professionally come with the CD. But even if you have only the demo version, you still can enjoy other artists' event files from this website.

Let's move to tutorial 2.
